The road leading to Basdako, Saavedra—home to Moalboal’s world‑famous white beach—is set to benefit from improved night-time illumination with the installation of 246 solar-powered street lamps.
The streetlights, currently being installed by personnel of the Local Government Unit of Moalboal, were provided through the support of Governor Pamela D. Baricuatro, following the formal request of Mayor Inocentes G. Cabaron on January 5, 2026.
In his letter to Gov. Baricuatro, Mayor Cabaron emphasized the importance of the project in strengthening community safety and supporting the municipality’s growing tourism sector.
“This streetlighting project will significantly enhance night-time visibility, promote peace and order, and support the growing tourism and economic activities along this route, which serves both residents and visitors,” Mayor Cabaron stated.
The installation of solar street lamps is part of the municipality’s continuing efforts to improve public infrastructure, ensure safer mobility, and create a more welcoming environment for both locals and tourists traveling to one of Moalboal’s most visited destinations.
The LGU expects the project to be completed soon, providing a brighter, safer, and more sustainable roadway for the community.
