Cebu 7th District Representative Patricia “Doc Patsy” Calderon held a follow-up meeting with environment officials to tackle key environmental issues in the district, right after a consultative dialogue with the agriculture sector. Moalboal Mayor Inocentes G. Cabaron, whose municipality lies along the Tañon Strait in Cebu’s 7th District, also attended the activity to show local government support for environmental protection initiatives.
The discussion, joined by CENRO representative Mr. Vicente Calizar and Assistant Protected Area Superintendent of the Tañon Strait Protected Seascape (TSPS), Mr. Sofronio Dayaganon, focused on programs being developed to address environmental concerns and strengthen the protection of natural resources, especially in and around the Tañon Strait. These initiatives aim to reinforce the implementation of environmental laws, promote responsible resource use, and ensure closer coordination between local government units, farmers, fisherfolk, and national agencies.
Through this engagement, Representative Calderon underscored her commitment to balancing agricultural development with environmental protection. She emphasized that sustainable growth in the 7th District depends on supporting local producers while safeguarding marine and terrestrial ecosystems for future generations.
