In a promising stride toward accessible healthcare, Mayor Inocentes G. Cabaron welcomed representatives from the Department of Health (DOH) for the initial dialogue on establishing a Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services (BUCAS) facility in Moalboal.
Launched in 2024, BUCAS is a flagship initiative of the DOH aimed at decongesting hospitals and extending timely medical attention to underserved communities. The program offers urgent care services such as minor surgeries, diagnostics, and treatment for non-critical conditions—bringing essential health interventions closer to home.
Moalboal was selected as a strategic site for the BUCAS rollout, owing to its central location in Cebu’s 7th District and the presence of the Super Health Center, which already serves as a vital health hub for the municipality and neighboring areas.
Joining Mayor Cabaron in the meeting was Atty. Ramil P. Abing, representing Seventh District Congresswoman Dr. Patsy Calderon, whose support underscores the district-wide commitment to equitable healthcare.
Once operational, the Moalboal BUCAS facility will be staffed by a rotating team of doctors and nurses from the Cebu South Medical Center, ensuring consistent and professional care for residents.
This development marks a significant milestone in Moalboal’s journey toward inclusive health access—where compassion meets innovation, and every citizen is empowered to live well.
