Vendors in Moalboal are reminded to adhere to the Department of Trade and Industry’s guidelines regarding the display of price tags in their stalls or stores.
During a meeting of the Local Price Coordinating Council, Mayor Inocentes G. Cabaron instructed DTI representative Cherilyn Villarante and Moalboal Agricultural Officer-Designate Rossini Deniega to inspect the stalls in the wet and dry markets to make sure vendors adhere to the guidelines.
Under the DTI guidelines, failure to display price tags merits a fine of P500 for the first offense, P5,000 for the second offense, P15,000 for the third offense and P25,000 for the fourth offense.
Requiring stall holders, especially those who sell meat and fish, to display price tags also eliminates the practice of having “tourists prices,” or the practice of some vendors of giving different prices for the same product, depending on who asks.
Representatives from the Municipal Agricultural Office, DTI, and the Department of Agriculture have been conducting regular inspections of both wet and dry markets to monitor not only the prices, but also of the vendors’ compliance with the price tag law.
