The Basdiot Covered Basketball Court became a place of hope last March 14 as pet owners, volunteers, and partners gathered for Moalboal’s free anti-rabies vaccination and spay–neuter drive. What could have been just another clinic day turned into a moving display of community spirit, with families lining up under the heat to give their pets the protection they deserve and to help build a rabies‑free, stray‑free Moalboal by 2035.
By late afternoon, around 60 dogs had been spayed and vaccinated against rabies, each one a small but powerful step toward safer streets and kinder treatment of animals. Side by side, the Local Government of Moalboal, Dogs of Moalboal Spay & Neuter, Doc Cindy of Zion Animal Clinic – Moalboal, Ms. Suzanne Dutton, and JCI Moalboal Katropa volunteers showed what is possible when compassion is backed by action and teamwork.
More than the numbers, the day proved that Moalboalanons are ready to choose responsibility over convenience and care over neglect. Every pet brought to the clinic, every dog spayed and vaccinated, and every volunteer who showed up brought the town closer to a future where children can play without fear, animals are treated with dignity, and Moalboal stands as a living example of how a united community can transform lives—both human and animal—for the better.
