The Municipality of Moalboal, through the Moalboal Tourism Office headed by Tourism Officer Liz Arden Aquino, successfully concluded a comprehensive Lifeguard Training in partnership with the Philippine Coast Guard on March 23–April 1, 2026 at Moalboal Social Hall. The activity aimed to equip local lifeguards and responders with essential competencies in water safety and emergency response.
The ten‑day course combined classroom lectures and hands‑on pool exercises that covered emergency care principles, basic life support, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), operation of the automated external defibrillator (AED), rescue breathing, and foreign body airway obstruction management. Participants were required to pass skills demonstrations and a written post‑test to ensure readiness for real‑world incidents, following recognized standards for lifeguard services and water safety training.
Tourism Officer Liz Arden Aquino thanked the Philippine Coast Guard instructors for sharing their expertise and underscored the importance of having trained lifeguards in a prime tourist destination like Moalboal, known for its beaches and marine attractions. She emphasized that the training supports the local government’s continuing efforts to keep both residents and visitors safe while enjoying the town’s coastal areas.
A total of 40 participants from barangays, resorts, and LGU Moalboal employees participated in the training and are being endorsed for further assessment and certification by Philippine Coast Guard. The Moalboal Tourism Office encouraged resorts and tourism stakeholders to continue investing in safety‑related capacity building to maintain Moalboal’s reputation as a secure and responsible tourism hub.
