Moalboal Mayor Inocentes G. Cabaron met with the town’s sikad and e-bike drivers to address regulations and ensure the safety and welfare of passengers.
During the meeting, the majority of the drivers agreed—through a show of hands—to disallow non-Moalboal residents from operating in the municipality, a move aimed at protecting the livelihood of local operators and maintaining order in the transport sector.
Mayor Cabaron also announced that the local government will provide each sikad driver with two sets of uniforms and official identification cards to help passengers easily recognize legitimate operators.
“Passenger safety is our top priority,” Mayor Cabaron said. “We want to make sure that every ride is safe, reliable, and provided by legitimate operators who know and care for our community.”
Vice Mayor Jinky Hanika, who was also present, encouraged the drivers to actively participate in their organization’s monthly meetings to strengthen communication and cooperation.
The gathering was likewise attended by Sangguniang Bayan members Engr. Noel Grengia, Dodong Sabac, Lino Deniega, and Ciri Tapales, who expressed support for the initiatives discussed.
