Moalboal Mayor Inocentes Cabaron reaffirmed the municipality’s firm stance against illegal constructions within the Tañon Strait Protected Seascape (TSPS) as he joined other local chief executives and the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) in a consultative meeting with tourism service providers (TSPs) to address environmental compliance concerns.
During the dialogue spearheaded by PAMB Chairperson and Alcantara Mayor Atty. Fritz Lastimoso, Mayor Cabaron emphasized the importance of proper permitting, regulation, and inter-agency coordination in safeguarding coastal ecosystems while supporting the town’s thriving tourism sector. He also underscored Moalboal’s continuing commitment to align development initiatives with environmental laws and the unified efforts of municipalities along the Tañon Strait.
The meeting revisited the approval flow for building and business-related permits, ensuring that both property owners and renters fully comply with the required processes. Mayor Cabaron pushed for strengthened enforcement against unpermitted structures, improved coordination among concerned offices, and intensified information drives to educate stakeholders on sustainable tourism practices.
