Mayor Inocentes G. Cabaron has convened the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council as Moalboal braces for Typhoon Basyang, which is forecast to affect Southern Cebu on Feb. 6, 2026.
Although the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) projects minimal risk to lives and property, Mayor Cabaron directed local response agencies—including the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office—to ensure full preparedness. This includes the readiness of personnel, evacuation centers, and emergency supplies should preemptive evacuation become necessary.
