As part of the culmination of the 2026 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Moalboal Local Government Unit (LGU) conducted a surprise drug test for all municipal employees and elected officials. The activity underscores the LGU’s commitment to maintaining integrity in public service while promoting a safe, healthy, and drug-free workplace.
The unannounced drug testing covered personnel from various offices, including department heads, regular and job order employees, and elected officials. By voluntarily taking part in the activity, local government workers demonstrated their support for the municipality’s campaign against illegal drugs and reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the highest standards of public service.
Mayor Inocentes G. Cabaron said the surprise drug test is more than just a compliance measure—it is a statement of the municipality’s unwavering stance against illegal drugs. He emphasized that public servants must lead by example and inspire confidence among residents by promoting accountability, discipline, and responsible leadership.
“Activities like this encourage a drug-free workplace and community while showing Moalboal’s firm resolve in the fight against illegal drugs,” Mayor Cabaron said. “By ensuring that those serving the public remain drug-free, we strengthen the trust of our constituents and help build a healthier and safer municipality for everyone.”
The activity forms part of the municipality’s continuing advocacy against drug abuse, complementing its information campaigns, employee education programs, and close coordination with law enforcement agencies. Through these initiatives, the Moalboal LGU hopes to foster greater public awareness and encourage the entire community to work together in preventing illegal drug use and promoting a culture of responsibility and vigilance.
