The Municipality of Moalboal participated in the regional launch of PhilHealth’s Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT) program held at the Cebu Provincial Capitol, Cebu City. The activity formed part of the official rollout of GAMOT in Central Visayas, which provides up to P20,000 worth of free outpatient medicines and related services per PhilHealth member and qualified dependent every year.
Moalboal was represented in the event by Municipal Health Officer (Designate) Dr. Nachito V. Baylon Jr. and Secretary to the Mayor, Atty. Nel Ediza, who attended on behalf of the local chief executive. Their participation underscores the municipality’s commitment to align its local health initiatives with national efforts to expand access to affordable medicines and primary care services for residents.
Through the GAMOT program, PhilHealth now covers 75 essential medicines used to manage common acute and chronic conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, asthma and other respiratory illnesses, infections, and selected cardiovascular and neurologic diseases. The Municipality of Moalboal expressed its readiness to work with PhilHealth, the Department of Health, and partner health facilities to ensure that eligible Moalboalanons are enrolled with YAKAP providers and properly guided on how to avail of their outpatient medicines benefits.
