The Municipality of Moalboal, together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Tañon Strait Protected Seascape (TSPS) Badian Station, successfully concluded the Final Presentation of the Coastal Management Zoning of Moalboal on February 12, 2026, Mayors Office. The session brought together the Sangguniang Bayan, coastal barangay captains, and DENR technical officers to finalize the zoning framework anchored on the NIPAS and ENIPAS laws.
During the event, Mayor Inocentes G. Cabaron underscored the urgent need for a unified and clearly defined coastal boundary across all barangays to ensure efficient governance, consistent enforcement, and long-term ecological protection. He emphasized that harmonized boundaries are essential for regulating resource use, strengthening marine habitat protection, and supporting Moalboal’s tourism-driven economy.
The DENR presented the final zoning map and policy recommendations for municipal adoption, highlighting the importance of aligning local ordinances with PAMB-approved guidelines. With the zoning framework now ready for legislative action, the Sangguniang Bayan is set to deliberate on its formal adoption—marking a significant step toward a more coordinated, science-based, and sustainable coastal management system for Moalboal.
