Moalboal used a strong first half for a comfortable 79-57 win over Alcantara in its debut of the 2026 Calderon Cup at the Badian Sports Complex on March 22, 2026.
After trailing early, 6-4, the wards of Jaysar Esparat silenced Alcantara with 14 straight points for an 18-6 lead they relinquished until the end of the contest. The lead went up by as much as 27, 49-22, as Moalboal forced Alcantara to commit 31 turnovers, scoring 28 points off them.
Leo Talledo led MOalboal with 15, including two treys, while Jhon Ryan Abines and Jeremar Lacanilao had 11 and 10 respectively.
Meanwhile, in the second game, host Badian overcame a gutsy Ginatilan, 92-77, to kick off its campaign on a strong note.
Moalboal will return to action On Friday, March 27 against favorites Dumanjug, which routed Ronda, 99-77, on opening day thanks to the 27 points of Cleveron Jay Fernandez.
The 1st Calderon Cup is a grassroots development program initiated by Cong. Patsy Calderon and aims to give the youth of the seventh district a chance to show their talents and be discovered by schools.
