📊 Moalboal joins Cebu LGUs in strengthening price monitoring and consumer protection
The Municipality of Moalboal will reactivate its Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) in line with the directive of Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro, who urged all city and municipal governments to strengthen monitoring efforts and prevent unreasonable price hikes on basic goods and fuel. The commitment was made during a meeting at the Cebu Provincial Capitol on March 12, attended by provincial and national officials from DTI, DA, and DOE.
Mayor Inocentes Cabaron expressed Moalboal’s full support for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of inter-agency coordination to ensure price stability and protect consumers. The reactivated council will include representatives from the DTI, Municipal Agriculture Office, Public Market Unit, and the local business sector, who will jointly monitor market prices and enforce compliance with the Suggested Retail Price (SRP).
Governor Baricuatro stressed that collective action among Cebu’s local governments will help deter retailers from imposing unjustified price increases, while the Department of Energy (DOE) called on LGUs to help monitor fuel supply and prevent unfair pricing practices. Provincial authorities assured that supplies and prices of basic commodities remain stable despite global market uncertainties.
Through the reactivation of its LPCC, Moalboal reiterates its commitment to consumer protection, fair trade, and good governance. The municipal government continues to work closely with the Provincial Government of Cebu and partner agencies to keep essential goods accessible and reasonably priced for every Moalboalan. 🛒⛽
