Rear Admiral Agapito B. Bibat, Commander of the Philippine Coast Guard District Central Visayas, paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Inocentes Cabaron to discuss stronger cooperation on maritime safety and coastal protection in the municipality. Accompanying him were key Coast Guard leaders from the Visayas who help oversee maritime safety and security efforts in the region.
In the meeting, they tackled priority concerns such as ensuring the safety of Moalboal’s coastal areas, safeguarding vital municipal assets along the shoreline, and strengthening the manning of lighthouse and other navigational facilities within the town’s jurisdiction. The group also explored ways to intensify joint monitoring, information-sharing, and rapid response to incidents at sea.
Mayor Cabaron emphasized his directive to “ensure that coastal areas are safe,” highlighting the importance of close coordination between the local government and the Philippine Coast Guard to protect residents, fisherfolk, tourists, and marine resources. RADM Bibat, for his part, assured the LGU of the Coast Guard’s continued support and readiness to assist in implementing coastal security and safety measures for the municipality.
