August 11, 2025–Barangay captains from across Moalboal, Architect Peque, and Mayor Inocentes Cabaron convened at the Mayor’s Office for a pivotal presentation on the Coastal Hazards (Physical) Vulnerability Assessment and Mapping in the Province of Cebu.
Led by Architect Peque, the session unveiled findings from a nationwide study examining coastline shifts and associated hazards driven by sea-level changes and geological factors. The initiative aims to equip local leaders with scientific data to guide sustainable coastal planning and disaster risk reduction.
Mayor Cabaron emphasized the importance of proactive governance: “This study empowers us to make informed decisions that protect our communities and preserve our coastal heritage.”
Architect Peque highlighted the integration of geoscientific insights into local infrastructure and zoning strategies, while barangay captains expressed their commitment to cascading the information to their constituents.
